Favorite Things
I’ve always had a great deal of interest in singing, but, ever since my curse broke, I don’t sing very much. However, I still like listening to classical music. (I also download techno music onto my office computer, but please don’t tell anyone.)
In my spare time, I’ll end up going on long walks, because I enjoy the exercise. The park is generally my favorite place to go walking (there’s a lake located on the northeastern side).
I have a penchant for coffee houses in the city. (There’s one in particular I go to almost every time I have a day off.) I’m actually not a big coffee drinker – I prefer tea – but so many of them have little trinkets and cake that are absolutely delicious. Usually, I pick up something sweet for Akito (she likes that) and perhaps a small bag of coffee beans for Hatori. (I usually just slip them under his door with a note. They’re always gone the next morning.)
I like going into music stores when I’m in the city, as well. I keep a tower of CDs I’ve bought in my bedroom closet. For some reason, I think Akito knows about it. If she comes over, she has a habit of snooping through my things, especially when I’m on the phone or doing something else.
If I’m tired of staring at the computer or answering phones, I’ll go up onto the roof of my house, usually during sunset or on cool afternoons. From there, I can see the birds playing over on one side of the yard, and some of the kids running around in the distance. If it’s raining, I’ll pick up a book. Shigure-niisan left a small pile of books at the Estate when he moved to his new house. I ended up moving them to my house for safe keeping, and some of them are absolutely fabulous. (Sometimes, I end up reading to Akito, too, but that’s usually reserved for Shigure.)
I like it when people smile, because it makes me happy. Oh, also – and please keep this a secret – I have a stack of cards in my desk drawer. Sometimes Akito and I will play cards when it rains or whenever she’s bored. I have a lot of fun doing that with her, even though I almost always lose.
