It was explained to Tohru that Souma clan has a curse. Certain members of the clan transforms into animals from the Chinse Zodiac when in contact of the opposite sex or are feeling very weak

It only takes a few minutes before they revert back to their original forms… naked… Tohru was shocked.

Shigure explained that since Tohru had already discovered the secret of the clan, her presence in the house must be known by Akito, their clan head. Yuki was very apprehensive of this news since everyone outside the family, who knows about the curse gets their memories erased. This happened to him when he was still a child and his playmates discovered his curse. He lost his friends. Kyo demanded why Shigure and Yuki even thought of having a female inside the house. Yuki indirectly implied that he doesn’t have a say in things since he is a ‘baka neko’. Kyo became so mad that he split the table in half, which tilted towards Tohru and accidentaly created a wound on her forehead. Yuki, enraged, kicked Kyo out of the house. Tohru was very concerned but Shigure explained that she should not intervene since it is nothing new. Shigure explained to Tohru that the possible reason Yuki and Kyo often fight was based on the Juunishi story, wherein the mouse lied to the cat.

Tohru felt sad for Kyo, especially since she vowed ever since she was a little girl that among the Zodiac animals, she will love the cat most.

In school, Yuki talked to Tohru about the possibility of erasing her memories of her stay with them. Even of their friendship. For Yuki it was hard for him to accept this since he had grown fond of Tohru. Tohru was touched of Yuki’s concern. She said she will accept whatever decision the Souma clan will make regarding her knowledge of the curse. She said if it would make Yuki feel more comfortable, she wouldn’t mind. But she requested that if her memory would be erased, she would like it very much for Yuki to be her friend again.

Back at Shigure’s house, Tohru found Kyo fixing her bedroom ceiling. Kyo apologized for what happened to her forehead. Tohru realized that Kyo wasn’t really the hot-headed he always projects.
